Zaffran - Crawford Market

I have visited Zaffran at Rcity before and it had been a great experience but cant say the same about the outlet near Crawford market.
The waiter wasn't helpful at all...whenever we asked for a recommendation all he said was
"Ye hai menu, aap dekh lijiye aur decide kijiye" Like really???? We know there's a menu Einstein!!!
We ordered 3 chicken dishes out of which the quality of chicken in 2 of the dishes was really bad...tasted kinda stale.

What we ordered

Kachhi Kairi Margarita - This is a must try...tangy sweet spicy...jus yummm
Middle Eastern Lemonade - More of a gingery taste... quite refreshing
Murg Zaffrani Tikka - The chicken was well cooked and tasted pretty good
Gosht Seekh Kabab - The meat was little too dry for my taste... kinda ok
Murg Afghani - The gravy was really flavorful but as I mentioned above, the chicken pieces tasted stale
Chicken Biryani - Again everything except for the chicken pieces tasted heavenly...I fail to understand why cant they use better quality meat...or was it just our bad day??
Roti, Kulcha - Go for Butter Kulchas, soft & tasty.

Overall I would still give it a try but make sure that they don't serve me stale food again by warning them before hand....peace out!!

Rain Forest - Rcity, Mumbai

Every once a while when hubs is in no mood to spend much eating out...we end up here!!
So Ive been to this place a lot many times and tried too many dishes to mention

The ambiance is Romantic meets Sports bar meets Scary Jungle :p

The menu has Multi cuisine options

The prices are reasonable

The food is good enough for the pric

Good collection of Liquor

The staff is cordial and quick

So yes if you looking for good food that wont be a burden on your pocket then do try this place out...you might just like it... specially the kids for their jungle theme interiors

Toh Pet Hasega aur Pocket bhi Hasega!!

China 1 - BKC, Mumbai

A fine dine restaurant that made so much noise one couldn't miss....so there we were, me and hubs with another couple friend and kids, meeting for dinner.
Heavy automated door and a huge dim lit room... Quiet Dramatic must say.
Took us time to decide whether to have dinner here or move to Sabrosa which is just next door since we were with kids and there's nothing really to keep them occupied or enough open space for them to do their thing plus as I mentioned earlier the lights are just very very dim... anyways we finally settled at the tall pub like tables and chairs (very unusual for a fine dine restaurant) and placed our order but the service was snail paced and reached our table only after several reminders... Guess it was just a busy day for the team.

What we ordered -

Sauteed Assorted Mushrooms - This is a must try if you like mushrooms...we asked them to avoid wild mushrooms since we aren't a big fan...quiet spicy and yum
General MaoTai Chin Chilli Chicken - Was nice but nothing really great about it
Water-Chestnut, Lotus Root & Asparagus in Black Pepper Sauce - Again a very average dish
Vegetarian Fukien Rice - Average!!
Vegetable Noodles - Better than the rice that we ordered but okaish

So overall didn't have a great experience, I am sure they can do better than this.

Ray's Cafe & Pizzeria - Bandra, Mumbai

A cozy lil french style cafe between giants like Mamagoto and C'est la vie but the place has its own character... Met a friend over coffee and Eureka!! its been a discovery!! glad I decided to try this place out.
Its a small place good enough for quick bites and coffee, some laidback time with your partner or friends and some delicious food for company.
Couldn't try much since it was a short meeting and we had to head back early but from what we tried I am pretty sure there wont be much to complain about

What we ordered -

Pizza By Slice:
Original Cheese - Thin crust...soft...right amount of sauce...right amount of cheese...Simple yet Delicious!!!
Grilled Chicken - Same base as original cheese with small chunks of grilled chicken..nothing great.
Oreo Cookie Shake - Its a must try!!
Hazelnut Cold Coffee - Pretty Good!!

I guess next time whenever I am around hill road and I feel like having a good pizza I would know where to find one but but but it is a little expensive

TGIF - R-City, Ghatkopar

In Here, Its Always FRIDAY!!
Now isn't that extremely inviting...who can say no to that???

So this Saturday it was TGIF...loud music, buzzing with people and great energy are few things synonym with TGIF and the R-City outlet is no exception..The service is fast and the servers know their shit, which is really great.

What we ordered-

I had a Mojito and Hubs decided to go with Black Dog since there was some offer going on but we were quite SHOCKED when he went for the second round as there was a FLY in his drink...we called the server and he quickly replaced it...but such incidences are highly unacceptable!!!!!!!
Seafood Platter - The fish, shrimps and calamari were fresh and well cooked the coating was crisp and yummy...worth a try!
Ultimate Fridays Nachos - Whats great is the nachos here aren't messy like other places. Its arranged well on the platter like mini pizzas that are bite sized with less beans...jus the way i like.
Chicken Veracruz - This was an okay dish...chicken was hard and the the flavor of rice was not that great...avoidable!!
Romesco Grilled Vegetable Pasta - Again a very okay kinda dish...the veggies were good the pasta was well cooked and the sauce seemed right... nothing to complain but nothing great as well...my 3 year old enjoyed it though.

Great place to hangout with you buddies and enjoy some drinks and tid-bits but the experience comes at a price and the price is on the higher side.

Oh! Calcutta - Khar, Mumbai

I've been a fan of Bong food from the time I tried it for the very first time and 'Oh! Calcutta' have been on the list ever since. Finally got a chance last weekend and mannnn was I excited :D

Its located right at the main road hence finding the place isn't a problem...The restaurant is quiet neat in terms of decor, nothing really fancy...its quiet spacious hence getting a table wasn't a problem even though it was a weekend dinner plan.

What we ordered-

Mochar Chop (Banana flower Croquettes) - I swear...This dish is a discovery!!! I mean I never imagined Banana flower can taste this delicious...mildly sweet and crispy and a very unique flavor of the banana flower.

Roshun Bhapa Maach (Steamed fish with garlic and chilli marinade) - This dish is absolute heaven but the problem is they serve only 2 fillets and then you keep longing for more... we chose Basa fish and trust me it was one of the most flavorful Basa Ive ever tried.
Murshidabadi Murgi Fry (Pan Grilled Chicken with herbs) - Its grilled chicken with skewers, quiet tasty and mildly spicy... was an instant hit with our 3 year old.
Chingri Fry (Pan Grilled Prawns with herbs) -
This dish is not on the menu since there aren't enough prawn starters, (And i LOVE Prawns) the waiter suggested we go for this dish... soft melt in your mouth prawns and mild flavors.

Kosha Mangsho (Pot Roasted Mutton in traditional spices) - If you like mutton then do try this dish...tender meat and robust flavors... my only complain, it was a little dry... personally i would have loved a little more gravy to go with my lucchis.
Bhetki Shorshe Bata Jhal (Freshwater Betki in Mustard & Green Chilli Gravy) - The Fish was fresh and succulent, the gravy was rich and full of flavors...goes really well with plain rice.
Luchhis (Puris) & Plain Rice
a
nd Last but not the least
Roshogulla

I wont say the prices are exorbitant, it does fall under the expensive category but the food is well worth it.
